The background

For years, I worked with this Telecommunications and Electronics eCommerce brand to build its Google presence. I helped it earn strong rankings and establish authority across its market well before AI answers became part of everyday product research.

The challenge

Then AI answers began handling more of the basic questions shoppers used to search on Google. The brand still had strong rankings, but shoppers could get product information without visiting a store. The opportunity was to protect the visibility we had built and reach people through searches that showed they were comparing products or getting ready to choose one.

The strategy

Protect the rankings already built. I monitored the brand’s important product and category pages, the searches that brought people to them, and changes in rankings and search results. That kept the pages closest to sales in focus as AI changed how people found product information.

Shift SEO toward buying decisions. I prioritized searches for specific products and models, product comparisons, retailers, availability, delivery, support, and accessories. These searches show that someone is weighing options or deciding what to buy, so the strategy focused on reaching those shoppers through the pages most relevant to their search.

Build visibility in AI answers. I researched the product and retailer questions people ask ChatGPT and other AI assistants, checked which brands and sources appeared, and used the findings to guide how the store and its products were represented online. I also tracked AI assistant visits separately from Organic Search.

The result

Organic Search revenue rose from $74,128.53 to $132,889.49 – nearly $59,000 more, a 79.27% increase. Traffic stayed close to its previous level, so the growth did not depend on bringing in many more visitors.

Revenue growth on roughly the same traffic is often attributed to conversion rate optimization (CRO). Here, a more focused SEO strategy drove the increase by targeting precise, high-intent searches from shoppers closer to buying. AEO/GEO extended the brand’s visibility into AI answers.
